What is Riba
Riba means interest or usury. Under Islamic law, charging or paying interest is strictly forbidden. A conventional bank mortgage is built entirely on interest, making it incompatible with Islamic principles. Meezan Wealth’s Ijarah model eliminates interest entirely from your home purchase.
Why Ijarah
Ijarah is a Sharia-compliant lease-to-own structure. Instead of charging you interest on a loan, Meezan co-purchases the property with you. You pay rent on Meezan’s share while gradually buying us out. The rent decreases as your ownership grows. No interest. No Riba. Fully halal under AAOIFI Sharia standards.
How it works
First, you find a property and apply with Meezan Wealth. Then we co-purchase the property with your deposit plus our finance contribution. Then each month you pay part rent on our share and part to buy out our share. Finally over time your ownership grows to 100%. Your name is on the title from Day 1.

Meezan Finance is not a bank, which means we are not constrained by conventional banking practices or interest-based funding models. Our non-bank structure allows us to offer genuinely Sharia-compliant contracts that satisfy both Australian law and Islamic principles without compromise.
